About James
James Webb is an experienced professional musician, singer and songwriter and a member of the Australian Songwriters Association.
From his earliest days playing in pick-up bands to a TV residency on Graham Kennedy’s ‘In Melbourne Tonight’ and appearances at the Tamworth Country Music Festival, James has traversed genres from Jazz, Big Bands and Country Rock. He’s released three albums – The Garden Project, Desperation and Indian Pacific.
For James, music is a drug... once you let it in, there’s no going back. In his own words:
“Whether you’re writing, composing, performing or producing, it’s in your blood. It holds you captive and it won’t let go.
“When everything’s going well, you’re on a high and you believe it will last forever. Then there are times when you feel you’re over it, want to turn your back on it, been at it for too long. Maybe it’s disappointed you – you didn’t reach the heights of which you dreamed. And you rationalise the disappointment, thinking: ‘We had our chance, now it’s time to move on.’
“But it won’t let go. You hear a song and you want to sing it or play it. You have an idea for a song and you want to write down some lyrics. And so on it goes.”
Featured Songs through the Decades
With a voice that’s drawn comparisons to Chris Rea and Australia’s own Folk-Rock legend, Glenn Cardier, James Webb has written, recorded and released three cross-genre albums – The Garden Project, Desperation and Indian Pacific. Here's a ‘Taster’ from each.
From INDIAN PACIFIC Album: A timely tribute to the recently deceased Jimmy Buffett. Recorded live as we performed at the Locomotive Hotel during the Tamworth Country Music Festival. There weren't a lot of Margaritas in evidence that day, but the crowd was certainly wild on something.
